Training Climbing Plants

When you want to have climbing Plants growing up against your garden fence to hide the ugliness of the fence and create a more green effect in your garden you need to stick some free standing bamboo sticks about 6 inches apart from each other and evenly spaced, so they have room to grow out and up the fence.

It’s important to remember that you will have to keep re-positioning the ties around the climbing plants to train them to grow in the direction you want them too, and you also have to keep trimming them down if they start to go stray. When they have started to angle in another direction, it’s a good idea to tie the straying plant┬áto the adjacent stick in the opposite direction it is growing in. By doing this you are training the plant to correct it’s direction and start climbing back up vertically rather than diagonally.
